Vision
To be the Senator that leads the effort in the reformation of the institution of the U.S. Senate as a citadel of law, order, integrity and of liberty.
Mission
To uphold the U.S. Constitution, with respect to making decisions that are for the betterment of the overall lives of American citizens, while at the same time begin to permanently dismantle systemic and structural racism at the highest level of government and to restore the United States’ reputation as a solid world leader.
Meet Michelle L Smith
Michelle was born and raised in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the prestigious Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Master of Arts in History, Specializing in the United States, with a concentration in Foreign Relations.
Federal Government Experience
Currently, Michelle is employed as a top notch Senior FOIA Policy Analyst with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). She has several years of federal government work experience with an extensive background in National Security, Law Enforcement, Foreign Relations and Advisory Opinions. In addition, her subject matter expertise involves the application of FOIA Exemption (b)(5) with an emphasis on forseeable harm.
While working with the U.S. Department of State in 2016, Michelle helped to decrease the FOIA backlog for the Department as well as performing other important tasks. She received recognition from the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Ed Ramotowski, for her work in clearing/closing the oldest cases for Consular Affairs’ Visa Office. In addition, Michelle was praised for extensively helping to decrease the FOIA backlog for the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine. She received a team award for her contributions and hard work. Furthermore, she did the same thing for the Veteran’s Administration where she received recognition for decreasing the FOIA backlog. This is a huge deal for agencies because for the most part, it is extremely difficult to answer FOIA requests within the 20-business day timeframe. By improving customer service and acting as a liaison between the agency and the requesters, Michelle was able to get request cases closed and off of the books. While adhering to the guidance of the DOJ’s Office of Information Policy, Michelle followed a strict backlog reduction plan and increased responsiveness to requesters. Michelle’s track record is impeccable.
Nonetheless, Michelle’s ultimate goal is to protect our country and the federal agency to which she is employed. Under her leadership, no document will escape into the public domain when it is not supposed to be there.
Media Executive/Audio Engineer
Michelle also owns a small business where she records, mixes and masters sound recordings. She has been doing radio production work and voiceovers since 2006. Her voice has been heard nationally and internationally and her work comprises of multi-track song recording, public service announcements, commercial advertisements, docudramas and so much more.
